1Who we are
Syntropise is a philosophical practice run by Dr John Stoszkowski and Dr David Priestley. We’re responsible for the personal information described here. If you have a question about it, write to hello@syntropise.com.
2What we collect, and why
When you ring for a curator
The form asks for your name, your email, what you’re interested in, the object that brought you (if any) and your message. We use it to reply and, if you’d like, to arrange a first conversation. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering you, and on the steps you’ve asked us to take before any membership or partnership.
If you’re a member
Your compartment, the members’ app, keeps what you choose to put in it: the objects you’re carrying and what you write about them, your monthly look-ins, the lines you copy out, the books and questions we leave you, your album, and a photo if you add one. Only you and the two of us can see it. The note you seal at the start of the year stays sealed, to us as well, until the year ends. We hold this to provide your membership.
On your own device
Some things are remembered only in your browser: which objects you’ve examined, your sound setting, the name you punch on the label maker, the homework you take home, and your member code if you sign in. They stay on your device and aren’t sent to us, except where you’re a signed-in member and the app saves them to your compartment. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.
3What we don’t do
- No analytics, no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels.
- No third-party scripts. Our fonts and images are served from our own site.
- We never sell your information or use it for anyone else’s marketing.
Links to LinkedIn, Spotify and other sites only take you there when you click them. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
4Children
Syntropise Kids is arranged with parents and guardians, and we correspond with them, not with children. We don’t knowingly collect information from children through this site. If you think a child has sent us something, tell us and we’ll delete it.
5Where it’s kept, and for how long
The site, its contact form and the members’ app are hosted by Netlify, which stores data on our behalf and may process it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. Our replies come from our own email.
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to reply and follow up, and member records for as long as your membership runs, plus a reasonable time afterwards in case you come back. Ask, and we’ll delete them sooner.
6Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to have a copy to take elsewhere, or to object to how we use it. Write to hello@syntropise.com and we’ll answer within a month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We’d be grateful for the chance to put it right first.
